National
Library of Virtual Manipulatives:
A
wonderful
math website! It has virtual activities for all grade levels (Pre-K thru
12) and abilities.
NUMB3RS
Do
you want to answer that question: When will I use this? If so, then this
is the site to do it!. CBS and Texas Instruments joined together to create
educational resources based on the television show. It is adapted around
upper level mathematics classes and is a good way of showing students how math
is used in real life.
Math
Graphs
This
site has worksheet for extra practice for any graphing topic in your classroom
(ex. Slope, tangents, ellipses, etc). This site offers more complex
explorations; therefore I recommend this for upper level classes.
Classzone
This
is from the publishers, McDougal Littell. It is a site they created that is good
for both teachers and students. You can locate your subject level and
state and find extra examples and activities. I think this site is a good
recommendation to parents on open house night! Also, you can quiz yourself
on vocabulary and topics in a particular chapter.
Ordered
Pairs Game
This
is a fun site if you are teaching ordered pairs. It gives students
practice with plotting points. Students can play against the computer or a
friend. Also, they can adjust the ability level by making their graph
small, medium or large.
Algebra
Help
This
site will give lessons and practice on any topic in Algebra. If you click
on one of the topics you will get all the help you need! It even provides
important lists/charts that you need as a math student (ex. Prime Number List,
Perfect Squares).
Cool
Math
This
site allows practice problems and lessons for Algebra, Algebra II and
Pre-Calculus. You can perform drill and practice problems with immediate
feedback. It’s a wonderful way to study for a quiz!
Battleship
in Math!
If
you are having trouble with ordered pairs, then try this site! You play a
battleship-like game and learn at the same time!
Go
Math!
This
site offers a free math tutoring program. You can get solutions to several math
problems and even do practice. This site offers immediate feedback and can
be a good way to review for your Algebra or Pre-Algebra test.
SAT
Practice Tests
You
can create your own SAT practice here. Its worth taking a look at if you
are taking the SAT’s and it gives you a grade at the end.

Curse |
 |
by
Jon Scieszka
On Monday in math class, Mrs. Fibonacci says, "You know, you can
think of almost everything as a math problem." After that,
everything turns into a math problem. The number of kids on the bus,
fractions for lunch, word problems for English class. It's a math
nightmare, until our narrator figures out how to break the Math Curse.
Then everything is just fine . |

by Greg Tang
How is it possible to count a complicated pattern of strawberry seeds
or grapes on a vine or camel humps--in a blink of an eye? If children
can open their minds to new ways of perceiving math, anything is
possible! Greg Tang shows readers creative ways to use patterns and
combinations of numbers to solve math puzzles quickly and effectively. |
